Charles Dickens Birthday
Join the Charles Dickens' Birthplace Museum in its celebration of the great author's birthday.
As is customary the museum will open for the day with entry free of charge to celebrate. This will be the only time this winter you can visit the museum, as it will remain closed until its summer season begins later in the year.
The event will feature a wreath-laying ceremony attended by the Lord Mayor of Portsmouth and the Portsmouth branch of the Dickens Fellowship. The fellowship will also hold hourly readings of Dickens seminal 'Bleak House' throughout the day, as follows:
11am - Geoff Christopher
12pm - Eileen Stockwell
1pm - Fiona Rosen
2pm - Tim Suffolk
3pm - Pat Arnold
4pm - Dr Lisa Randall
The wreath-laying ceremony will begin at 11am. Visitors are advised to arrive for this by 10:45.
