Much of the work we do at Portsmouth Museums can only be achieved through generous donations from the public – be that through financial contributions, object donations or time given to volunteering.
Please see below information on contributing to the continued running of the museums.
You can make a donation to any of our museums through the Portsmouth City Council payment gateway. This allows us to keep 100% of your donation, whilst also ensuring all payment details are kept secure.
Make a donation using the online form. From that page, scroll to the bottom and click ‘Miscellaneous’. In the drop-down menu that appears, select ‘Donations’. Another menu will appear, asking which museum you wish to donate to. Select the museum you wish to receive your donation. You’ll then be able to enter your details and specify a donation amount. On this page, where is says ‘Account name’, simply type: Donation.
There are also collection boxes at all our museum sites, where you can donate in person.
We have volunteers across all our museum sites, generously giving up their spare time to help the service continue to serve the community. Each museum website has information on its own volunteering process, as well as current positions and how to apply. Click through for full details.
Donate an object
Do you have an object you think we’d like to include in our collection? If it’s of historical interest, from the Portsmouth area, and not something we already have, we’d be interested to hear from you!
The donation process differs slightly across each museum, so click through to the site you think would be the best fit for your item:
